Prop ‘til you drop: A betting guide for the rookies

The Super Bowl is upon us this weekend. It’s time to make some questionable decisions with your money!

I’m not talking about betting on the actual game, because, let’s be honest, that’s for squares (😎). I’m talking about the utterly insane world of Super Bowl prop bets.

These bets can really take your night to a new level, especially if you don’t regularly watch or like football. These bets are designed to keep everybody engaged in the night whether they’re rooting for touchdowns, or wedding gowns (more on that in a second...)

Here are some of the more prop-ular novelty bets people are placing on the game right now:

Will Taylor Swift Become Mrs. Kelce? First up, the prop bet that’s got the Swifties and the sports world colliding: Will Travis Kelce propose to Taylor Swift after the game? As of writing this blog, the odds are 16.7%. I guess Vegas thinks there’s a chance Kelce could put a ring on it, especially after it didn’t happen last year.

Tears vs Touchdowns! Think someone’s gonna get a little misty-eyed during the national anthem? You’re not alone, 81.1% of bettors are banking on a tear or two. A quarterback catching a pass? Only 5.9% chance, but hey, stranger things have happened, especially since the Philly Special (shout out to former Jags “legend” Nick Foles). As for the Gatorade bath? Purple’s the smart money, at 32.3%.

Beyond the Usual Suspects FanDuel, Gridiron Experts, and a bunch of other sites are getting in on the action. Want to bet on the coin toss? Go for it. Over/under on the length of the National Anthem? You can bet on it. There is even a prop bet for how many times the Manning brothers will be shown during the broadcast.

Look, the Super Bowl is a spectacle, and the prop bets are half the fun. So, embrace the absurdity, throw some money on the weirdest bets you can find, and pray for a miracle. Just remember - gamble responsibly - or don’t...I’m not your mom.
