9/24 - Thursday
A few coastal AM showers, Gusty afternoon This morning is mild with temperatures in the 70s. A few isolated showers will continue moving off the Atlantic this morning essentially east of I-95 in Nassau, Duval, and St. Johns Counties. The afternoon will be primarily dry across the area. Highs today will reach the lower 80s along the coast and mid 80s well inland. Winds will be gusty throughout the day at our local coastline. NNE winds at 10-20 mph at the beaches. Gusts of 30-35+ mph likely along the immediate coastline N winds well inland and 10-15 mph with gusts of 20+ mph. Rip current risk will be high and will linger through the weekend. Rough ocean and surf conditions continue through the weekend. Some minor coastal flooding possible at times of high tide today and tomorrow. A few coastal showers will be possible tomorrow morning. Highs will be about 80 degrees tomorrow with lower humidity. Morning temperatures drop to the 60s tomorrow inland. We will likely see morning lows in the 50s in Western Duval county on Saturday and Sunday mornings. First time JIA will see the 50s since June 4th (58 degrees) and our forecast low on Saturday morning would be the coolest wince May 15th (54 degrees). TROPICS: (1) Fay has regained tropical storm status over the N. Atlantic, but the system will remain far from any land. (2) A tropical wave just off the coast of Africa has the potential to develop but will stay over the far E. Atlantic. (3) Strong low pressure will form off the U.S. east coast then move to near New England over the weekend with heavy rain & strong winds. (4) Soon to be hurricane “Nolo” will impact the Big Island of Hawaii by later Fri./Saturday. Always more: “Talking the Tropics With Mike”. TODAY: Partly cloudy and breezy. A few isolated showers closer to the coast. Drier in the afternoon. HIGH: 81 TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Isolated coastal shower. Breezy. LOW: 64 FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, less humid and breezy with an isolated morning shower at the coast. 64/80 SATURDAY: Sunny and very nice. 57/82 SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. 59/84 MONDAY: Mostly sunny. 64/84 TUESDAY: Partly sunny. 65/86 WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. 67/87
