JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
Frontline workers could soon be next in line to get their COVID19 vaccinations, with that in mind Dollar General is making it easier for employees to get the shots.
The store announced its “removing barriers” to make sure employees at its nearly 17,000 stores, who want to get vaccinated, can do so and not worry about a smaller paycheck for taking time off.
Dollar General offering hourly employees four hours of regular pay if they go get their vaccines while accommodating time off for employees who are on salary.
Customers applauded the idea.
“I think that’s great i think all companies should do that,” said Katie Stromett.
Jacksonville University Professor of Management Dr. Julius Demps, agrees.
“I believe other organizations may do well to try to benchmark what they’re doing,” he said.
Dr. Demps said the move by Dollar General shows how some companies view vaccines.

“I think it says they’re forward thinking, that they are creative that they’re trying to find ways to do their part to help bring an end to all of this,” said Dr. Demps.
Dollar General said that while it encourages employees to get their vaccines, the company called it a “personal choice” that won’t be required.
