JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Gallery 725 will be hosting a one-night-only event honoring the work of comic book legend Bill Finger on Saturday, February 8, which would have been his 111th birthday.

In 1938, Bill Finger was approached by Detective Comics to help create a character just as popular as their titular hero, Superman. Alongside fellow comic book legend Bob Kane, they drafted the concept for the Caped Crusader himself, Batman.
Finger is credited for major decisions regarding the character look that would help define him for years to come, such as his color scheme and his cape. Finger is also responsible for making Batman a detective along with the likes of Sherlock Holmes.
The concepts of the Batcave, Batmobile, and ‘Gotham City’ are also credited.
Other characters that Finger co-created include Robin, various key members of Batman’s rouge gallery such as The Joker or The Penguin, and the original concept of the Green Lantern.
Per most comic book writers of the time, Finger was not credited for his work. It wasn’t until 2015 when DC announced that Finger would begin receiving credit for the character. His first credits include FOX’s “Gotham”, the 2016 film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, and other comic books.
Gallery 725 will feature Bill Finger’s granddaughter, Athena Finger, at the event to feature her works.
