Jacksonville, FL — Beginning today, JEA will replace a 24-inch water main along San Jose Boulevard - a project that is expected to take three months.
The work follows an emergency repair of a water main break completed last July. After further evaluation, JEA determined that a full replacement of the pipe is required to maintain the reliability of the water system and to prevent future outages and traffic disruptions.
Traffic on San Jose Boulevard will be impacted at times, primarily at night/overnight. The median and turn lanes within the work zone will be closed for the duration of the project.
From 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. one northbound lane from Ricky Drive to I-295 will be closed.
From 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. one southbound lane will be closed.
Speed limits in the area will be reduced to 35 mph.
JEA says the work will not affect customers’ regular water, sewer, or electric service. If any planned water outages are necessary, impacted customers will be notified 48-hours in advance.
