Man shot after pointing gun at deputies, according to Columbia County Sheriff’s Office

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A suspect was shot by deputies in Columbia County on Wednesday, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, three deputies were serving a final eviction notice at on southwest Washington Avenue in the Three Rivers Estates subdivision around 10:45 a.m.

The person being evicted had made threats to law enforcement before.

After arriving at the home, the suspect pointed a gun at the deputies. Two deputies shot at the suspect, hitting him in the lower body.

According to CCSO, no deputies were harmed.

The suspect was flown to a hospital and is in stable condition.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation into the deputy-involved shooting.

CCSO is also conducting a criminal investigation into the aggravated assault against the deputies and criminal charges are pending.
